3 Unique Ways Tuff Automation Provides Better Controls Services

When understanding all attributes of a material handling system, the controls engineering portion can be daunting to many. Even to those who have worked with or designed systems before. In its early years as a company, Tuff Automation recognized this as a way to better serve our customers as an equipment manufacturer. It was at that point that we created our own Controls Engineering department.

At the time, it was very unique for an equipment manufacturer to also provide its own controls to a material handling system. However, ever since then Tuff has strived to seek ways to uniquely provide custom services to our customers in the area of electrical controls.

Here are a few ways we do that:

1. Providing Continuous Operation

We know that problems can happen in your plant at any given time, day or night. Our staff understands how important it is to have your operation up and running properly as soon as humanly possible. That is why we’ve structured our company and have equipped our staff to provide around the clock remote troubleshooting services. These services can be anything from simple system testing to reprogramming your PLC. (see a list of these services here)

2. Assigning Engineers

One of the most common hurdles we see in the field is introducing an engineer to a system that was not only designed by a different engineer, but by a different company. This can cause our customers to spend more resources on controls costs just to have an engineer familiarize themselves with a system or program.

When you get your controls from Tuff, you won’t run into that problem. With any new customer or project, we quickly assign a specific engineer to your company or system. This allows that specific engineer to completely engulf themselves into the intricate workings of your system and program. Considering that our average employee turnover rate is over a decade, you can be sure that you will have the same controls engineer working to design, program, and maintain your system for years to come.

Your assigned engineer will be an expert in:

·         Material Handling

·         Allen-Bradley

·         Rockwell Software

·         Machine Automation

·         PLC Direct

·         Process Control

·         Siemens / Step 7

·         Factory Automation

·         Steeplechase

·         PLC and HMI System Design

·         Banner/Turck/Balluff Sensors & I/O

·         Industrial Networking

·         Omron

·         Data Acquisition

·         Mitsubishi

·         Sortation

·         Yaskawa

·         Part Validation

·         Microsoft .NET

·         Retro-Fits

·         PC/Web based solutions

3. Maintaining Product Quality

Between some of the more extensive controls products out there, we know that the component technology changes faster and more consistently then even our personal smart phones. This vastly changing technology alone can provide its own challenges when designing, programming, or troubleshooting a controls system.

Therefore, it is imperative that we keep our engineers up to date on the latest technology in order be prepared for those challenges. Our engineers are passionate about staying current so that they can not only provide the best solution to any existing system problems, but to also provide the design solution for your new system.

In the near future, Tuff Automation will be officially partnering with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell to better provide this technology. If there is advanced technology out there that can vastly improve your system, we know about it!

As we mentioned before, we understand that the idea of integrating controls into your system can be daunting. We even know that the experience and knowledge between professionals with the title of “Controls Engineer” can be vastly different. Please consider the points mentioned above and let us prove to you that we have the experience and knowledge that best suits your system’s needs.
